A Summer Ender To Remember

In tank tops, short shorts and sunny skirts, we all had fun.
It was the last working day this season of the sun.
The potluck food was a bounty.
3PM in the afternoon everybody was hungry.
Choose your calories wisely if you want to stay sexy.
Out a “bikini” and some got a lil crazy.
That was one hot party.
Here’s to life in this agency!

Ways To Stay Active At Work

1. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

2. Try to take a walk whenever you can.
Emailing, texting and phone calling has made it extremely convenient for you and your colleagues to keep in touch.  But during work hours it might be more beneficial to walk over to a co-worker’s desk instead of instant messaging him or her about a new job order.

Also try resisting the urge to take your car or hail a cab when going out for lunch.  Not only are you doing something good for your body, you’re also doing something good for the environment and for your pocket.

3. Walk fast.
It’s good cardio.  Plus you’ll always look like you’re going somewhere important.

4. Workout at your desk.

Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen)

In 1997, Mary Schmich wrote an essay called “Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young” which was popularized by Baz Luhrmann when he turned the essay into a song.

This is Mary Schmich.  She writes for the Chicago Tribune and the Brenda Starr comic.

This is Baz Luhrmann. He’s an Australian film director, who’s known for the films Romeo+Juliet, Moulin Rouge! and, most recently, The Great Gatsby.

Climbing Your Mountain (An Artist’s Journey)

Alex Noriega is an artist from Barcelona. He likes making cute comics about the life lessons he’s learned. We’ll be posting more of his stuff tomorrow, but today we’ll be featuring one of his longer comics. It ties in with yesterday’s video post about the journeys in life we all embark on.

Noriega depicts his personal struggle to become an artist.  Although he illustrates his own struggles, the insights he gives are easy to relate to.

Let us know in the comment section if you can identify with what Noriega is saying.

Climbing Your Mountain - An Artist's Journey

Oh, the Places You’ll Go

You’re off to great places
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting!
So get on your way…

The people of Burning Man deliver a reading of Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go –sharing the book’s simple, yet comforting and powerful message about the ups and downs of life.

Burning Man is a week long event that takes place in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. It started as a bonfire summer solstice tradition in Baker Beach, but soon became a huge pop culture phenomena. The last Burning Man Festival drew in over 56,000 people. Each of whom paid a $240-420 entrance fee. 68,000 passes have been sold for this year’s Burning Man, each priced at $380.
The event starts on the last Monday of August and ends on the first Monday of September. The man-shaped effigy (which gave the event its name) is always scheduled to be burnt on a Saturday.

Robin Thicke – Blurred Lines

It’s the middle of a Friday afternoon, we’re all in the office and we all just happen to catch ourselves watching the uncensored version of this video. It’s completely sexist and demeaning to women but we can’t look away. And we don’t want to. The colors, the boobs, Robin Thicke’s bright blue eyes!

This is what we do at work.

Note: the girls in the office were the ones watching this video, the guys were at their desks feeling somewhat uncomfortable.

A Taste of Culture

There was once a time when cakes came in simple shapes, with simple designs.  When the baker’s only concern was to make something delicious.  Now people expect more from their desserts -which has led to a lot of food for thought in the form of cake artistry.

Amongst the most cultured of these offerings are the artwork inspired cakes.

Cake.  Art.  What’s not to like?
